GORN Ceramics, founded seven years ago in Kyiv, has emerged as a powerful example of survival and artistic resilience against the backdrop of the ongoing conflict in Ukraine. In August 2020, a captivating exhibition named 'Shadows' consisting of eight clay-and-copper humanoid sculptures by Yuriy Myrko was set in the Saint-Sophia of Kyiv conservation area. These sculptures, reflecting profound themes of human relationships, death, and spirituality, signaled GORN’s transformation from producing everyday items like vases and bowls to creating emotionally resonant art pieces. The continued uncertainty of the future and the challenges posed by the war with Russia have only fueled GORN's commitment to creative expression and artistic tenacity. Co-founders Myrko and Bogdan Kryvosheya, alongside Sasha Mychak, initially established GORN to produce ceramic tableware, but the studio has since grown to embody a spirit of artistic courage in a tumultuous time.
