Founded seven years ago in Kyiv, GORN Ceramics has become an emblem of resilience in challenging times. The studio, co-founded by Bogdan Kryvosheya and Yuriy Myrko, gained attention when their clay-and-copper sculptures, titled “Shadows,” were displayed at the Saint-Sophia of Kyiv conservation area during the 2020 Bouquet Kyiv Stage Festival. These statues, resembling ghostly humanoid forms, were intended to be a temporary exhibit but remained for nearly three years due to their profound impact. Until then, GORN primarily focused on producing practical ceramics like vases and bowls. However, the “Shadows” series marked a pivotal transformation towards creating art pieces with emotional depth, exploring themes such as human relationships, death, and spirituality. Despite the ongoing conflict with Russia, GORN continues to showcase creative freedom and endurance, crafting both utilitarian items and profound artworks that symbolize hope and survival.
