In Sardinia, a Showcase for Craft and Culture Rises From Ruins
Kyre Chenven and Ivano Atzori have transformed a cluster of derelict houses in southern Sardinia into a vibrant cultural retreat named Luxi Bia. Located in a rural area once home to a furriadroxu, a type of traditional agrarian community, the farmstead now serves as a haven where visitors are invited to engage with Sardinia’s rich cultural heritage. The couple, who relocated to Sardinia from Tuscany in 2014 with their two children, persevered through the complexities of Sardinian inheritance laws to acquire the property, a process that required negotiating with numerous heirs. Embracing the island's rich and independent cultural evolution, Chenven and Atzori have crafted Luxi Bia to stay true to the architectural and communal spirit of its past, whilst offering an intimate exploration of the local environment and traditions.
