Showing Courage in Ukraine With Handfuls of Clay
Mar 05 , 2025
GORN Ceramics, founded seven years ago in Kyiv, has become a symbol of survival and artistic resilience. In late August 2020, the studio's clay-and-copper sculptures titled 'Shadows' were installed at the Saint-Sophia of Kyiv conservation area. These sculptures, created by Yuriy Myrko, reflected themes of human relationships, death, and spirituality. Initially meant for the Bouquet Kyiv Stage Festival, the pieces impressed the keepers of the cathedral, leading to an extended exhibition lasting almost three years. Co-founded by Bogdan Kryvosheya and Yuriy Myrko, GORN Ceramics began with utilitarian ceramics but has since expanded to produce emotionally charged art. This evolution is amplified by the challenges posed by the ongoing war with Russia, showcasing the studio's dedication to creative expression against a backdrop of adversity. The work of GORN exemplifies artistic freedom and the power of art in times of hardship. Extracted by: https://Janestrinketonline.com.
